Our services, tasks and procedures are part of a legislative system that governs the course of our work and activities and regulates partnerships between us and governmental and private departments and bodies, and adds credibility to our relationship with the local community.
Dubai Municipality’s founding decree of 1974, stipulated that Dubai Municipality, as an institutional entity is granted authorities and privileges that extend to the borders of the Emirate, among which the authority to issue laws, administrative and regulatory decisions, and local orders.
The importance of our legislative duties lie in the following:
Enabling us to achieve the goals specified in the inception decree, since legislation is an executive tool
Regulate all public facilities that we manage and supervise
Legitimizing our work, especially when imposing fees, costs, and financial obligations
Ensuring full compliance with the procedures, conditions and requirements adopted in the provision of our services, penalising violations through imprisonment, financial fines, revoking licenses, closure and confiscation of goods.
Ensuring justice, equality and equal opportunities in the provision of our services
Protecting Dubai Municipality’s public funds and properties
